The Modern Masters Collection

This collection celebrates the search for a distinct national identity that played a significant role in the development of modern Arab art in the 19th and 20th centuries.  Artists such as Hafidh Al Droubi and Ismail Al-Shaikhly sought to define the cultural and aesthetic values of the Arab world in new and innovative ways.

The majority of the works featured in The Modern Masters Collection was created during the mid-20th century. This was a period where modern Arab art continued to evolve, with artists experimenting with new styles and mediums, and engaging with political and social issues of the time. This period was marked by the rise of the "Arab School" of painting, which sought to express a common Arab identity through the use of vibrant colors, bold brushstrokes, and motifs drawn from traditional Arab art and architecture.

The collection also features works created in the latter part of the 20th century, where modern Arab art became more diverse and eclectic, reflecting the increasingly globalized nature of the art world and the growing influence of contemporary art movements from around the world.
